youngmanhattanite: Must See TV - Tonight! - YOUTH KNOWS NO PAIN on HBO So we all know Mitch McCabe through John Carney, a dubious credential but trust us, she’s awesome. She produces directs documentaries and her latest, YOUTH KNOWS NO PAIN, is about America’s $60 billion a year anti-aging business. (Mitch happens to be the daughter of a plastic surgeon.) Tonight/9pm is the big HBO premiere and apparently she listed me in the credits, just for telling her about Julia Allison and making an introduction. I know, I fed the monster but it seemed appropriate for this project. Of course, that isn’t the reason you should watch. Congrats, Mitch! I’m in the credits, too.  Before Krucoff.  :)

I’m heading to Toronto for the first time next weekend, and am very excited to learn that I’ll be arriving in time for nuit blanche, the city’s free all-night contemporary art event - 132 installations on display in gallaries, museums and public spaces from sunset to sunrise. The city commissioned this piece for the event: D.A. Therrien’s BEAUTIFUL LIGHT: FOUR LETTER WORD MACHINE, a light sculpture that will project four-letter word patterns in the air above City Hall all night long.  It’s like if Jenny Holzer and David Blaine had a love child. Wouldn’t an event like this be amazing in New York City?

Here is HBO’s promo for YOUTH KNOWS NO PAIN.  It’s so different from ours… much more of a TV promo than a film trailer, and focuses on the big macro story of the anti-aging industry/debate than one the characters in the film.

YOUTH KNOWS NO PAIN premieres Monday August 31 9PM/8C.  Please please please watch!
