    Nate Anderson:

Calling “protection of content from theft” the MPAA’s number one issue, Glickman reiterated claims that piracy costs the studios $6 billion worldwide every year. Half the MPAA budget goes toward reducing this number, and the trade group believes that the single best way to do so is through technology.

What the MPAA means to say is that content filtering is in their best interest. It is, in fact, not in the best interest of the ISPs to draw the ire of their customers.

Every time one of these execs open their mouths, they further prove themselves to be dinosaurs unable to make their business work with the internet.

I whole-heartedly agree.  The studios keep trying to expand the studio (read: closed) system, when the web and the future of communication and entertainment is open.  Not open systems, just open period.
