This is the new nonfiction award created by filmmaker AJ Schnack. The name of the award changed when I wasn’t looking. Nominations in the Audience Choice category for two IFC Entertainment docs, Deep Water and Joe Strummer: The Future is Unwritten.
I’m quite interested in how all this develops. Not whether IFC wins awards, but rather how the awards are received within the filmmaking community. I, for one, think the awards are a great idea. Recognition for all aspects of nonfiction filmmaking is long overdue.
