When I walk into Tile Bar I get one of two feelings

It’s either “This night is only getting started!” or “Crawling into bed would be even cozier than this little corner dive right now.”  No middle ground.

    Last night? The latter.

I had the same feeling last night. Even back up at the party in Hell’s Kitchen my legs were getting heavy. At some point I sat down and pretended to DJ with my iPhone just so I could sit down and not talk to anyone. It had been a long week, and Thursday was a late night. Well before midnight I could tell I wouldn’t last long.

That’s probably also why I look like I’m half asleep in that picture you like so much. I mean, really! Who could look that tired while a zombie version of Caroline prepares to eat your brain? If I’d been drinking heavily last night I wouldn’t have minded. But being that drowsy at a party with no excuses is unacceptable.

I went home after just one drink at Tile Bar. I think you and I were the only ones to go home, though. Sometime after three thirty in the morning Dodgeball started blowing up again. The team had moved on to Sing Sing for some late night karaoke. Suddenly I wished I hadn’t been so damn tired last night.

Your presence in Room 5 of Sing Sing Karaoke St. Marks was certainly and sorely missed!
